FFX-2 is seriously the most underrated game in the whole series. I mean, it's not as bad as the rest seems to say. At least, I had fun, and I thought the mini-games are so much better and less irritating than FFX's. Hmm. Oh well, heard a lot of comments saying that the sequel to the 'most perfect FF series' was a disaster. I think X was actually more disastrous. Sigh, I was about to jam my whole controller when I saw the last scene where Tidus disappears. Can you imagine? The LEAD disappears. Sigh. Happy ending? Yeah, in a way. Female lead brings her friends to save the world, clap clap, but only to lose her beloved. Sigh. What kind of story is this? I'm seriously thinking they made it that way to add the sequel so they can make more money. But at least I'm still enjoying the game. Hmm.
Let me see, I've finished FF7, FF8, FF8, FF10, now at FF10-2, and seems like FFXII is coming out. Great... Hehe. The only damn thing is that FFXI is online gaming, and I don't have cable. Yet. Sigh. And playing it is damn expensive. But the game sounds fun, and it's a totally different concept of gaming. Yeah. Some people just have all the luck. Whatever.
Still love FF8 the best. Firstly, Squall's extremely out-of-this-world (check out the guy on my blog... sigh), secondly, the plot is surprisingly more believable for me, third, I love the gameplay. Short, sweet, and cuts to the chase. Hate the droning level-up system for experience points, and prefer a lesser exp point system in FF8. I mean, I can practically level up all the way within an hour or two. The card game is great, unlike FF9's (duh), and I like just having a single weapon and you build up the weapon instead of having multiple weapons and you hunt for it high and low. Seifer's (the rival) cool too, and I thought it was the best made in terms of graphics and characters compared to FF7 and FF9.
FF7 ranks next, because I like the plot, but somehow the characters didn't connect with me like how FF8 does. And Aeris died. SquareEnix just likes to kill characters once in a while and see how the gamers react to it. It's their sideline hobby. And there's no possible way to revive her. Hmm. Surely she didn't die just because Sephiroth plunged a knife into her heart? The rest had phoenix downs in battles when they KO. Sigh. And I don't like the gameplay. Hate the materia. They keep on mulitplying, and without them, you are nothing. I don't like how you have to keep on reslotting the materia. Kinda time wasting.
FF9, well, if you liked castles and princesses and knights in er, rusty armour. Hehe. And thieves. Lol. Cute and funny, and the plot was not dark and thick like the last two FF's. Like fight the bad guy, then realise the bad guy is not the ultimate bad guy, but another one that's manupulating the bad guy. Confused? No worries. Not this game. Very straight to the point, and fairytale-like. Bad point? I spent 30+ hours leveling up to Level 100. Not that I needed that high a level, but I make it a point to always max my character's statistics. And this game took me forever to do that. Ugh. But at least I had the enemy for dinner. Can you imagine? It's totally useless to level up all the way. I imagined I'd be able to beat the final boss at 60+. Hmm. The mini-games were quite interesting, albeit a little frustrating sometimes. Chocobos are always fun (not in FFX), and I like the major part they play in FF9.
FFX has got to be the best in terms of graphics, characters and gameplay. I mean, the female's really pretty, and main guy is so cute. Not to mention they are quite 3D in character. I like the plot too, but the sidequests are extremely irritating, and an absolute must if you want all the characters' best weapons. Argh. That was so mean of SquareEnix. I got tired of playing that for a while, jumped to FFX-2, but jumped back to get on with that game and beat the final boss. Turned out I didn' even need the ultimate weapons. Hmm. I loved the sphere grid level-up system though. Different from the olden experience points thing, and you get a bigger satisfaction watching yourself travel the sphere grid leveling up. My original plan was to finish the whole grid. It was taking too much time though, and I gave up halfway to finish up the last boss. I know there's a cheat to leveling up, but didn't care to use it. Hmm. Too lazy. I have to admit, the chain of plots is just as good as FF8, if not better, but I really hate the ending. What on earth is a sequel doing to ruin the "Final" fantasy game? It's supposed to be FINAL.
Oh well.
